Netflix Cancels Cowboy Bebop

In what I’m sure comes as a shock to fans, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop has been cancelled after one season. The series had teased a second season both in the show itself (With a sequel hook) and with executive producer Jeff Pinkner stating they were planning a second season already; which means that its cancellation must have a lot more to do with the show being universally hated before, during and after its release than it does any other factor.

Traffic PSA Video Removed Because of Feminists

The Chiba Prefectural Police removed a traffic PSA video that featured VTuber Tojou Linka on September 10. This occurred following a complaint from the Alliance for Feminist Representatives (AFTER) which did what feminists do and complained that the character design was “sexually objectifying” and has “…an underage girl as an object of sexual attraction…” because of her “…short skirt…” and “…a sailor uniform-like outfit that reveals her navel.” and that the character has “…large breasts that sway when she moves.”

The Matsudo City Police Station responded that they would “…take the expressed opinions into consideration for future promotional activities.” Setsuko Itakura, the woman who is the representative director of Art Stone Entertainment, expressed her surprise and dismay that their mascot was deemed “misogynistic”. Outa Ward Assembly member Minoru Ogino (Who is active as a female-presenting VTuber) protested the removal of the video and challenged the feminists to prove their nonsensical assertions. He also accused the group of violating its own mandate by deeming what is “appropriate” to wear for women rather than respecting their choices.

AFTER replied with a bland remark about wanting to “raise awareness” (To be fair, they have; we now have further confirmation that 4th wave feminists are not to be taken seriously) and completely dodged responsibility by stating that the Chiba police made the decision. Masuda City assembly member Kaoru Masuda, who is also a member of AFTER, felt compelled to share the following: “Everyone, I don’t know how much power you think an assemblyman has, but there is no way a regional assembly member could pressure the police into removing a video.”

Itakura responded to this by stating the following:

I myself felt a strong pressure when I saw an assembly member’s name linked to a protest letter submitted to the police. Furthermore, in my conversations with the police, I have come to the understanding that there are members of the police who felt the same. I fretted over whether this is a matter that I should stay quiet over, but I think that removing things is not the solution, and after hearing the voices of the citizens, I have decided to speak up.

Here is the “offending” video:
