Makoto Shinkai’s your name. will be adapted by Hollywood under director Marc Webb and producer J.J. Abrams. The Hollywood version of the film will have a “Western Viewpoint” with a boy from Chicago and a Native American girl. The long standing tradition in Hollywood to race-swap characters in anime adaptation appears to be intact still, leaving us to wonder if its other long standing tradition of “incredible box office success” for anime adaptation will also carry over with this movie.

Live Action Akira Movie in Limbo
Warner Bros. has put Akira‘s live action adaptation on indefinite hold. The project had already found its director with Taika Waititi but now it seems this adaptation is likely to never materialise.

Rurouni Kenshin Live Action 2-Film Finale Announced
The live action adaptation of the Rurouni Kenshin manga will be completed with a two-film “Final Chapter” event with Keishi Otomo returning as director and Takeru Sato returning as Himura Kenshin.
