New Manga Series Announced

  • Black Lagoon: Rei Hiroe will resume his manga in spring 2019.
  • Can’t Talk with Occult Girls: A spin-off of Interviews with Monster Girls that will be written by Kae Hashimoto and drawn by Hajime Honda will launch on January 5.
  • Dragon Ball Super (New Arc): The series is launching its Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc on December 21.
  • Girls und Panzer: The Witch with Wings of Fir and Iron: The manga will be a spin-off of the Girls und Panzer series set in Count High School and will be handled by mangaka Michio Murakawa. The next chapter comes out on December 15.
  • Last Round Arthur: Yuzuriha is launching a manga adaptation of Taro Hitsuji and Kiyotaka’s light novel series which will launch on January 4.
  • “Unknown”: A new and yet untitled manga by Rumiko Takahashi has been announced for early next spring.

Hunter x Hunter Coming Back Soon

Yoshihiro Togashi has let readers know that he has done the storyboard for the next 10 chapters of his manga and intends to continue it soon, but that will depend on his health.

Manga’s Popularity Keeps Climbing

Amazon Japan reported that between November 13, 2017 and October 31, 2018, the top 20 most sold books on Kindle had 18 spots filled by manga titles.

Light Novel Reading Habits

According to the 2019 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!, surveys were conducted revealing that 65.2% of respondents read web novels then buy the light version, 18.6% will read the web novel and not buy the light version and 16.2% said they hardly read either. 65.6% said that they almost never buy e-books while 13.2% purchase most of their light novels as e-books, 10.9% buy a few of their light novels in e-book format and 10.2% said that half of their light novel purchases are e-books.
