Sega will release a new console (Temporarily named Mega Drive Mini) this year in Japan as part of their commemoration of the its 30th anniversary of its Mega Drive Console. The console will feature what has been labelled “Memorable famous games” from the original Mega Drive. It was also stated that this Japanese version of the mini will be different from an overseas version already on sale (Sega Genesis Flashback?).
Sega also announced a Sega Ages project (For the Switch) that involves more than 15 classic games developed by M2 that start their release this summer. Among others, the games include Phantasy Star, Sonic the Hedgehog, Gain Ground, Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Thunder Force IV.
Also, Sega will release a Playstation 4 version of Border Break in Japan on August 2 with pre-orders having started on April 16. The game will be free-to-play but will also have a physical edition, special download edition and in-game purchases.
