Sweet Punishment Anime Announced

An anime adaptation of the manga Sweet Punishment has been announced. It focuses on an office lady wrongly imprisoned and at the mercy of a sadistic pretty boy guard. Yes, this is actually aimed at girls and probably has western feminists fuming as we speak considering that the show’s tagline is “I am the guard’s private pet”. A short version will play on TV followed by an uncensored version on the Anime Zone streaming service.

Sensible Response to Piracy

Takashi Yoshida decided to be the voice of reason in the industry and gave some much needed advice on how to handle piracy:

Before trying to crush pirated versions, there are things that should be done.

I think they shouldn’t crush pirated versions, but as businesses they should compete to win. Taking legal measures and shutting down [piracy sites] is completely meaningless and counterproductive.

Piracy sites are illegal, but I think publishers’ and publishing industry members’ current reactions to that are the worst.

There’s nothing new about what I’m saying, and various people have said it in the past. Nevertheless, it didn’t change.

If you read the entire interview, Yoshida suggests that companies should stop undermining their support base and instead focus on enticing them to use legal means.

Piracy cannot be stopped, but if more people took a proactive solution as Yoshida suggest, instead of whining that they don’t have as much millions as they’d like, they could instead encourage those who pirate to go to the legal sources.
