Some time ago I had raised questions over the uneven, if not absent, release schedule of a few series; namely, One Piece, Fairy Tail and Bleach. These series had either not seen a release in a long time or were being released at highly irregular intervals. Well, there is some news about what’s going on.

First off, Bleach has since released its 5th BD set and has already announced its 6th and 7th volumes. So while the release scheduled might be a bit uneven or slow, VIZ appears committed to fully releasing this series. They are also releasing the last set of Hunter x Hunter as well as continuing with regular JoJo releases, demonstrating some genuine consistency with their long running series, if nothing else.

Funimation… is a different story. In spite of Fairy Tails having concluded for some time and the episodes being dubbed and licensed by Funi, a home video release of the series’ last season has yet to be announced and there is no way to know if it will ever even happen, thanks to Sony’s new leadership. By the way, whatever happened to that D.Gray-man Hallow release? So far, that ain’t happening either.

In similarly dismal news, while it was reported that One Piece is resuming its English broadcast, no news has come as to any further home video releases since and it is questionable if one ever will. So, I guess we can really count on Sony when it comes to our favorite long running shonen!
