Satoshi Motonaga, a producer on the High School DxD series, said in an interview with Monsters & Critics that uncensored BD content and sales remain a priority of fanservice oriented title.

Satoshi highlighted how important fanservice is to the series and his commitment to maintain an element of fanservice present even as the series transitions to the darker tone of the later volumes.

He mentioned that the series High School DxD did exceptionally well in overseas market and he noticed that ecchi content appears to be on the rise in foreign markets in terms of overall demand; a good news to be sure since many were afraid that Western influence on the market would lead to less such content. If the West does ever negatively impact the Japanese market, it will not be the responsibility of the fanbase if this holds true.

In a less cheerful note, Satoshi did say that ecchi content appears to be in lesser demand in the Japanese market.

The idea that foreign markets now hold more sway over Japan is not a myth either, as Satoshi mentions that shifting their marketing to foreign markets will soon become a “necessity” in the near future and that they see a lot more foreign traffic in both trailers and Twitter feeds of creators than they use to.

It is also worth nothing that Satoshi commented on how streaming impacted the industry and fragmented revenue sources for series, creating an infrastructure shift.
