Nintendo’s Online Switch Service and Other News
Nintendo currently has no plans to release its classic games through its Virtual Console brand on Switch. Nintendo is also clarifying its online service’s pricing scheme for Switch: It will be around US$4 for a one-month membership, around US$8 for a three month membership, around US$20 for a twelve-month membership and around US$35 for a Family Membership, which will allow up to eight different users to use the service (Even on different systems). The service will launch this September in the United-States, Canada and Mexico.
The U.S. International Trade Commission is launching an investigation into Nintendo over concerns of “certain portable gaming console systems with attachable handheld controllers and components thereof…”. This is in response to Gamevice filing a complaint against Nintendo on March 30. Gamevice contends that Nintendo’s “…portable gaming console systems with attachable handheld controllers…” infringes on one of their patents.
