DVD/BD Sales in 2017 in Japan
The market suffered a 10% decrease compared with the previous year. BD sales themselves fell 2% but with a silver lining: They increased 3% (To 54%) in their share of the home video market. Anime sales accounted for 27% of the market, which constitutes an increase of 3%. Anime BD sales amounted to 36% of blu-ray sales in the Japanese market (A 2% increase). Long story short, the home video market isn’t doing that good in Japan but the anime market is at least stable.

Nobuhiro Watsuki Fined for Possession of Child Pornography
The Rurouni Kenshin creator was fined the equivalent of US$1900 for simple possession of child pornography. He apparently possessed multiple videos and DVDs of nude girls in their early teens although the exact nature of the content sill has not been made clear (Did he buy CP on the internet or were these the sketchy idol material previously legally sold up until 2014 when they were outlawed?).
