Voice actor Tamio Ohki died on December 14, as reported by Mausu Promotion. The cause of death is uncertain and details are scarce as of now.
Ohki was a well known Japanese voice actor who played the iconic role of Aramaki in the movies Ghost in the Shell and its sequel, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. He first began his career in 1968 by playing Shigeru on Kyojin no Hoshi and has also played in Gunbuster (As Tatsumi Tashiro), Hal (As Tokio), Gungrave (As Sid Gallarde), Kiba (As Zico), Ninja Scroll (As Genza), Rurouni Kenshi: New Kyoto Arc (As Nenji) as well as countless other roles in series such as Heroic Legend of Arslan, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Lupin the 3rd, Monster, Nadia… He also played roles in dubbing American movies brought to Japan such as X-Men (As Professor X), Star Wars (As Darth Sidious and Tarkin), Underworld Evolution (As Alexander Corvinus) and many other roles in such works as Scooby-Doo 2 and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Animated). He also did roles in video games such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Tekken…
The tragic events of December 14th bring to an end a long and prosperous career as we say goodbye to one of anime’s earliest voice actors.
